Downside School – UK Summer School
Downside School, founded in 1617, is a co-educational, independent, boarding and day school that provides high school level education throughout the year. Downside School, a classic 'Harry Potter' style English boarding school, is one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in the country. The college campus, located in Bath, one of England's most touristic cities, is 30 minutes from the city center and 2.5 hours from London.
The college campus, covering 500 acres of beautiful land at the foot of the Mendip Hills, has excellent facilities. A 100-acre sports field for football, rugby, cricket and other games, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, a large sports hall, a 25-meter indoor swimming pool, a 600-seat theater, an art room, a large, historic dining room and student cafeteria are some of the facilities the campus has.
During the summer period, Downside School Summer School, offered by Kings Young Learners, opens its doors for English language education for students aged 08-17.
Education
Summer Course
15 hours of general English lessons per week are provided to students.
Summer Course + Horse Riding
Students are provided with 15 hours of general English lessons per week and 6 hours of horse riding lessons. At least 6 students are required for this program to open.
Summer Course + Tennis (13-17 Years)
Students are provided with 15 hours of general English lessons per week and 6 hours of tennis lessons. At least 6 students are required for this program to open.
Accommodation
On-campus dormitory, usually 1-2 person rooms, also 3-8 person rooms, floor-shared bathroom
Meals
Three meals per day are provided.
Activities
A wide variety of activities are offered for students during non-class times, including badminton, barbecue, basketball, cooking, wood art, karaoke, frisbee, dance, disco night, football, zumba, latin dances, movie night, pool parties, tennis, rugby, volleyball and fun games.
Trips
2 full day trips and 2 half day trips are offered per week. Sample Trip Program: Bournemouth, Cardiff, Oxford, Weymouth, London, West Midlands Safari Park, Portsmouth, Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge Caves. Package prices include one night accommodation in London on the last day.
Schools provide the trip program as an example and reserve the right to change trip program destinations due to weather conditions, availability or other external factors. In addition, there is no participation in trip programs on school arrival and departure days.
Airport Transfers
Transfer service is provided from London airports and Bristol for an additional fee.
Airport transfer days and times are fixed. Additional fees are charged outside these hours and days. You can get detailed information about transfers from your consultant. Shuttle is valid for certain hours. You can get detailed information from your consultant.
Health Insurance
Insurance service can be obtained from the school for an additional fee.
