Downe House School – UK Summer School
Downe House School, a traditional English boarding school built with modern touches, was founded in 1907 in Kent, the home of Charles Darwin, and then moved to Cold Ash Newbury in 1922. Located in the heart of Berkshire, 1.5 hours from central London and 45 minutes from Heathrow, this school also stands out with its social facilities, sports complexes and accommodation opportunities.
Downe House School Kings, one of the summer schools that Harry Potter fans will prefer, also attracts attention with its golf program.
Downe House Newbury has modern classrooms, an indoor swimming pool, spacious student common areas, tennis courts, extensive sports fields and modern performing arts venues. During the summer period, it opens its doors as Downe House School Summer School under the organization of Kings Young Learners for English language education for students aged 10-17.
Education
Summer Course
15 hours of general English lessons per week are provided to students.
Summer Course + Golf
Students are provided with 15 hours of general English lessons per week and 6 hours of professional golf training. At least 6 students are required for this program to open.
Summer Course + Harry Potter
Students are provided with 15 hours of general English lessons per week, 3 hours of Harry Potter-themed activities per week and one Harry Potter-themed trip per week. Program start dates (July 12 and July 26, 2026 and duration is 2 weeks). At least 6 students are required for this program to open.
Accommodation
On-campus dormitory, 2-3 and 4 person rooms, floor-shared bathroom (A small number of single rooms are available.)
Meals
Three meals per day are provided.
Activities
A wide variety of activities are offered for students during non-class times, including badminton, barbecue, basketball, cooking, wood art, karaoke, frisbee, dance, disco night, football, zumba, latin dances, movie night, pool parties, tennis, rugby, volleyball and fun games.
Trips
2 full day trips are offered per week. Sample Trip Program: Bournemouth, London, Portsmouth Oxford, Portsmouth, Bath, Bristol, Salisbury, Wookey Hole Caves, Westminster, Cheddar Cave, Southampton, West midlands
Schools provide the trip program as an example and reserve the right to change trip program destinations due to weather conditions, availability or other external factors.
Airport Transfers
Transfer service is provided from London airports for an additional fee. Arrivals and departures are on Sundays.
Airport transfer days and times are fixed. Additional fees are charged outside these hours and days. You can get detailed information about transfers from your consultant. Shuttle is valid for certain hours and dates. You can get detailed information from your consultant.

Insurance service can be obtained from the school for an additional fee.
